  Mercure Counselling and Training Alliance (MCTA) is a registered community interest company & an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) located in Wantage, South Oxfordshire.  

MCTA offers affordable counselling for adults both face to face and online, from our beautiful therapy rooms in Wantage South Oxfordshire and with our alliance partner Bramham Therapy in Marlborough Wiltshire.  

We provide a safe, non judgemental space 

for clients to talk in confidence and comfort.  

Clients can chose to have therapy with one of our qualified counsellors or one of our fully supervised counsellors in training. 

  Our Certificate in Counselling & Listening Skills is the first step towards a professional counselling qualification. 

It is suitable for those considering a career in talking therapy, or wishing to improve their listening skills for life. 

 The Certificate is a six month part-time course, held annually over six weekend blocks from January to July.

 No prior experience is needed, 

just English GCSE & basic IT skills.

We are currently accepting applications 

for January 2025 intake.

  Upon completion of the Certificate, 

students can enrol on our three year part-time Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. 

The course consists of nine weekend blocks from September to July and prepares successful candidates for work in both organisational settings and private practice.

As part of our Diploma training, there is a requirement that students undertake 100 

hours of clinical practice.  This enables us to offer affordable counselling with one of our fully supervised counsellors in training.

Graduates of this course will be able to apply for professional membership to organisations such as the BACP.
